Meet the Clinicians

Dr. Anderholm David Anderholm, MD

Founder of the clinic, Dr. David Anderholm is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, a member of the American Association of Geriatric Psychiatrists, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Medicine.

Amanda Hintz

Amanda Hintz, MSLP

Amanda Hintz is a licensed psychologist in the state of Minnesota. She has practiced at Northern Psychiatric Associates since the clinic opened in March 2007. She has extensive experience working with children and adults, and she facilitates the adult group in the Parent Works program through Crow Wing County Human Services. She provides counseling for a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, loss, and trauma.

Jeanne Kurtz

Jeanne Kurtz, PhD, LP

Dr. Jeanne Kurtz is a licensed psychologist and has worked in the mental health field since 1980. She has been with Northern Psychiatric Associates since the clinic opened in March 2007. Her practice includes patients of all ages facing a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, stress and health issues, and weight and eating concerns. She has worked extensively with patients preparing for bariatric surgery and dealing with obesity.

Karleen Schmiedt

Karleen Schmiedt, MSLP

Karleen specializes in treatment for depression, anxiety, situational stress, relationship and family issues and grief and loss. Karleen has facilitated groups for Women’s Anger and Self Esteem and works effectively with victims of domestic violence as well as individuals in the process of recovery from Chemical Dependency.

Stephanie Smith

Stephanie Smith, CNP

Stephanie completed her undergraduate degree at The College of St. Scholastica and her graduate studies at the University of Cincinnati. Stephanie is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the State of Minnesota. Stephanie enjoys working with the elderly and has previously worked in mental health serving our veterans. Stephanie will be seeing patients ages 13 and older.

   
Philip Tange

Philip Tange, MSW

Philip Tange is a licensed independent clinical social worker. He works with adults, providing treatment for anxiety, depression, posttraumatic stress disorder, grief and loss, assertiveness problems, and anger issues. His primary treatment methodology is cognitive-behavioral therapy. He completes parenting evaluations for guardians ad litem and social services, as well as some types of court ordered evaluations. In particular, he is interested in group therapy.

Melissa Virnig

Melissa Virnig, MS, RN, CNP

Melissa Virnig completed her studies at the College of St. Scholastica and is a board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner in the state of Minnesota. She has worked in most areas of nursing stating out in high school as a nursing home aide. She has been with Northern Psychiatric Associates since the clinic opened in March 2007. She does extensive hospital based work in addition to skilled nursing facility rounds and an outpatient practice. She sees adult patients age 18 and older.
